Settlers

Settlers began shortly after I finished illustrating the first book Sandcreek and is a re-exploration into the historical account of what took place at Sand Creek. The idea came from wanting to find a new way of illustrating the narrative but in a way that felt like a more relatable and tangible experience for the audience encountering the book.

Settlers focuses on the articulated attack upon the Cheyenne's at Sand Creek by the US cavalry in 1864. The book explores the idea of settling, and what it's like to be the first ones.
